Tritordeum has featured among other sustainable ingredients in the Sustainable Food Summit 2019, celebrated in Amsterdam the 13th and 14th of June. The 11th European edition has been focused on new trends, developments of food ingredients, new technologies and green packaging.

The Sustainable Foods Summit is an international series of summits – organized by Ecovia Intelligence – that focuses on the leading issues facing the food industry concerning sustainability and eco-labels. Considering that Tritordeum was recognized in the Sustainable Food Awards 2018 as a new ingredient that makes a significant difference in terms of environmental and social impact, the Summit organizers have invited Agrasys to participate in the presentations.

Lead by Managing Director Dra. Pilar Barceló, the session has covered the sustainability of this new cereal from a series of different viewpoints and has detailed its benefits to the diverse group of professionals present at the meeting – including key stakeholders in the food industry looking for new trends, ingredients, and products focused on Sustainability.

Dra. Barceló strongly believes that robust crops with better agronomy can make an important contribution; the session has shown how Tritordeum can meet these challenges and become a real alternative. On sustainability issues, Tritordeum not only contributes positively to the environment but also to our society. That is why we received the award as Sustainable Ingredient in the Sustainable Food Awards 2018”, announced Barceló.

Dra. Barceló has finished the lecture, which took place in the Radisson Blue Hotel Amsterdam, stressing why Tritordeum is an answer to today’s demands and market trends in the food industry for locally-produced natural ingredients to make functional products with reduced environmental impact.
