The nutritional benefits of Tritordeum



Tritordeum is a good source of monounsaturated fatty acids. In particular it has a high content in oleic acid, considered the most important of the Mediterranean diet and well-known for its benefits on cardiovascular health.



Tritordeum contains up to 10 times more lutein than common wheat. Lutein is an antioxidant that protects our eyes from the sun and reduces the risk of eye diseases. Lutein also gives Tritordeum flours and products a golden-yellow colour.



Tritordeum’s gluten is easier to digest.

Its content of gluten proteins responsible for coeliac disease is 50 to 60% lower than in wheat. For that reason Tritordeum makes you feel better. It’s an alternative for those with non-celiac gluten intolerance.

It is not suitable for people with celiac disease.



Tritordeum contains 30% more dietary fibres than wheat, its effects on health are well- known: facilitates intestinal transit, increases the feeling of satiety, and reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases

It has a high content of fructans recognized to be active prebiotic compounds that stimulate the development and the balance for our gut flora.
